So if you read my about, you know that I have a diet of real food. It’s not a diet to lose weight.. just how I eat.

Someone I went to school with a while back, Amelia, asked me about the best ways to detox your body, which inspired me to write this post! Thanks @ameliaemerson

This is the most simple diet and one I encourage to all of my clients and skin care peeps because you can literally get your glow from within this way.

No matter how many times you see an esthetician or professional, if you do not have a good at home, self-care plan, you will likely not see the results you are looking for.

Believe it or not, our diet is HUGE when it comes to skin health. It actually determines our skin’s health generally. Granted there’s certain skin diseases also but did you know a lot of these diseases or disorders can be helped with a good diet??

I realize not everyone can cold turkey stop like that so I have provided a few tips as well as some foods that will help naturally detox and cleanse your body of the bad toxins and food inside your body.*disclaimer: I am not a nutritionist and if you are allergic or gluten free or anything like that obviously choose what works for you and what doesn’t. Please don’t take exactly what I say and assume I’m an expert. This is what has worked for me, and I am sharing it with you.

How to get started on a better diet (and save money):

  • Stop buying fast food
  • Say no to going out to the club or fancy dinners
  • Don’t eat out at restaurants
  • If you have to question the ingredients, don’t buy or eat it! Example: the ingredients in most cereals or pretty much any food that’s boxed!
  • Shop the perimeter of the grocery store, this is where all the fresh foods are. Only venture into the aisles for baking supplies, coffee, tea, sugar, etc. You should be able to find everything you need in the perimeter.
  • Shop at local farmers markets (search Facebook or google, I promise there’s tons around you, even you city folk!)

Seriously, just by starting on what I call a “real food diet” will help so much. Plus it’s an easy diet that has no real set rules or anything complicated or hard to follow. Basically, if you have to question what the food is or it’s ingredients, don’t eat it! The Earth gives us everything we need to live. And when you eat this way also, you’ll start to realize how easy it is to give back to the Earth! Which is what I’m all about. There’s a balance to everything and that includes our consumption and the Earth’s health (more on that another time).

You will notice dramatically not only a change in your skin, but your body not only in appearance, but how you’re feeling and how your body is working right. When you eat to nourish your body, instead of just eating to eat, you start to really live!
